What Klardaten does

Klardaten MCP Server for DATEV

The MCP server connects DATEV to compatible AI applications such as Langdock, ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot (Studio and Cowork). Your DATEV data becomes available in the application your team already uses, without having to build an integration from scratch.

DATEVconnect Gateway

The Gateway makes DATEVconnect accessible to your applications through a hosted REST API. You can use DATEV data in your software and workflows; we take care of hosting and operating the internet-facing API.

Klarvos · In development

We’re developing Klarvos to automate recurring tasks in tax firms. We maintain the predefined automations, so you don’t have to develop and maintain them yourself. Klarvos is not yet available.

What makes Klardaten different

DATEV access beyond accounting

Through MCP, Klardaten provides more than 100 data resources across six DATEV areas, including order management, Lohn und Gehalt and LODAS. This also gives AI applications and custom software access to data for HR and tax-firm tasks.

Your DATEV permissions apply to AI too

With individual profiles, each connection uses the existing permissions of its assigned DATEV user. This lets you restrict access to sensitive information such as your firm’s own payroll or confidential management documents.

Built for multiple users

Connect multiple team members to the same DATEV environment with their own MCP access. Depending on their tasks, they can use a shared profile or separate profiles with different permissions.

Search the content of your DATEV documents

Document search finds relevant passages in indexed content from DATEV DMS and Document Storage. Your AI application receives sources, with page references where available. The connected DATEV profile’s document permissions still apply.

German hosting and contractual confidentiality

We operate the DATEVconnect Gateway and MCP server in Germany. Our contractual documents govern confidentiality, restricted access and confidentiality commitments for involved persons in line with Section 203 StGB and Section 62a StBerG. Your chosen external AI application has its own processing and hosting terms.

The team behind Klardaten

There are nine of us at Klardaten. It all started with our three founders: Sylvain Boulade, Johannes Pfeiffer and Paweł Janik.

Our background is in developing financial and tax software. At Klardaten, we use that experience to connect applications and automate routine work.

Sylvain Boulade

Founder

Sylvain previously worked at beta.gouv. His focus is developing FinTech software and automating workflows with AI.

Johannes Pfeiffer

Founder

Joe has been building software products for over 20 years. As CTO at Kontist, he was already working on AI and tax advisory services.

Paweł Janik

Founder

Paweł develops financial and tax software. He developed AI APIs for tax processes that were used by more than 100 organisations.

How Klardaten started

We grew up with DOS, Windows 3.11 and Windows 95. A few things have happened since then. More in some areas, less in others.

We’re optimistic enough to believe we can make the world a little better. And realistic enough to start with small steps in tax firms.

While helping build a digital tax firm, we saw how much routine work software can take care of. That experience sparked the idea for Klardaten in 2024.

We automate tasks that take time and aren’t fun. So there’s more time for good advice. And a little more day left when the work is done.

How to get started with DATEV and AI

Setup often takes one day; in other cases, it takes a few days.

    Choose your DATEVconnect Gateway and the MCP access you need. Enter your billing and IT partner details and place your order online.

  2. Your IT partner installs the Connector

    Your IT partner installs the Klardaten Connector in your DATEV environment. For DATEVasp, DATEV carries out the installation.

  3. Connect your AI application

    Connect an application such as Langdock to the Klardaten MCP server and configure the access you need. We’ve written step-by-step guides to help you get set up.

Who is Klardaten for?

What is the difference between the Gateway and MCP server?

The DATEVconnect Gateway provides access to DATEV through a REST API. The MCP server is an additional extension that lets compatible AI applications use this connection.

What prerequisites do I need?

The Gateway requires DATEV Platform and DATEVconnect in your DATEV environment. Additional licences and user permissions depend on the data and functions you want to use.

How does setup work?

After you order, your IT partner installs the Connector; for DATEVasp, DATEV performs the installation. You then connect your AI application or integrate the API into your software.

Is Klarvos available yet?

Klarvos is still in development. The DATEVconnect Gateway and Klardaten MCP server are available to order.
