Document search
Find the relevant passage in your DATEV documents
Describe what you are looking for to your AI assistant. Klardaten searches prepared content from DATEV DMS and Document Storage (Dokumentenablage) and returns relevant passages with source references.
Your AI assistant can use the retrieved passages in answers and summaries. The connected DATEV profile’s permissions still apply. Supported scans also become searchable through automatic text recognition.

How does search work?
Klardaten creates a local search index with a vector database on the DATEV connector host. Search combines keywords with semantic similarity. Text extraction, OCR and search processing run locally on that machine.
Retrieved passages and associated document information are sent through Klardaten to your connected AI application. Further processing is governed by your agreements and settings with that provider.

Selected write actions, such as creating accounting sequences (Buchungsstapel), require explicit approval and are recorded in the audit log. Existing user permissions and profiles remain part of the access model.
OAuth authentication
Compatible clients connect through remote MCP and OAuth 2.1. A custom integration for each AI assistant therefore does not need to be developed.
How it works
From DATEV to your assistant in three steps
The MCP extension uses the DATEVconnect Gateway as its connection layer. The tax firm defines who may use the MCP server and which DATEV profile applies.

Connect the DATEV environment
The DATEVconnect Gateway is installed in the firm's DATEV environment and the connection is tested before use.

Authorize users and profiles
Define who may connect and which DATEV user context or profile should apply to requests.

Connect the AI tool with OAuth
Add the Klardaten MCP endpoint in the chosen client, complete the OAuth flow, and select the DATEV tools the user needs.
