Tax advisory has huge potential for automation. We're building the plumbing that has been missing for two decades.
What we do: software that finally lets tax firms use their own data, for reporting, workflows and AI.
Why it matters: tax firms run a huge share of German accounting and payroll, and fight every day with data stuck in local systems.
Why now: AI made automation realistic for unstructured tax work. The bottleneck is access to clean, governed data, not the model.
What this looks like in practice
You work close to real tax firms, on workflows people actually use every day.
Real constraints: customer trust, security, multi-tenancy. Things have to keep working.
Whatever you ship goes into firms in production, not into a sandbox.
Where we are
Profitable and growing, with paying customers across mid-sized tax firms, TaxTech vendors and IT integrators. Founded by a team with years of experience in the tax and fintech industry.
Who we're looking for
We hire across the board, technical and non-technical. What matters more than a specific job title: tax-firm or DATEV context, customer-facing skill, or solid technical depth, paired with ownership and clear thinking. Examples: tax professionals, customer success, sales, product/operations, engineering, working students. If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
What you get
Real ownership of substantial pieces of what we do.
Direct contact with paying customers from week one.
Real problems instead of make-work.
Almost no corporate process between you and getting things done.
Close collaboration with the founders.
What you should not expect
A finished organisation or perfectly groomed roadmap.
A large team with neat departments.
A 'just work the tickets' role.
Clear answers to every question, you'll often work with incomplete information.
What we expect from everyone
You can think clearly about complex problems, technical or domain.
You communicate clearly, in writing and in calls.
You take ownership instead of waiting for someone to assign work.
You are comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information.
You deliver work you'd be happy to put your name on.
You care about the customer's actual problem, not only your part of it.
How we work
Remote-first across European time zones; overlap with CET is required.
English in the team, fluent German for customer-facing roles.
Async by default, calls when they are clearly faster. Short decision paths.
Working things beat decks. High autonomy, no micromanagement.
Flexible hours, transparent compensation with stated salary ranges, regular team meetups.
Why join now
Big market, almost no real competition: tens of thousands of German tax firms and barely anyone making this work seriously.
AI just made the use cases real, and we are one of very few teams set up to bring them into firms in production.
You join while the team is still small, before processes are set in stone, your work and decisions visibly shape what Klardaten becomes.
Open positions
Currently advertised roles. For everything else, a speculative application is the right path.
